A sharp or sometimes blunt edge on the head posterior to the eye. Often referred to as `cheeks margined` in literature. This edge often appears to interact with widened pronotal plates common in Zaeucoilini.

Ridge on the gena that extends from the ventrolateral corner of the mouth cavity toward or partly behind the eye; unlike the occipital carina a genal carina is not continuous dorsally.

Is the genal carina of Chalcidoidea and Eucolilidae homologous? The genal carina is interrupted medially on the vertex also in Eucoilidae? is the presence of the "interruption" the only difference between genal and occipital carina?
